a gift from Texas.

So try to follow this story...

I have never met this woman.
My mom talks to this woman over the phone at work.
Texas woman lives in Texas. My mom works in Boston.
They get to talking, both have the name Linda Lynn, both have daughters that have been to Haiti, both women were born in Texas, both are Christians.
They become bff. Who wouldn't?
Linda (woman from Texas) starts reading my blog.
She reads this post.

Falls in love with the girls here and starts shopping for them.

In this post, I joke about flying down clothes for the girls. Never expected anyone to do that.

Yet, thankfully there are people like Linda Lynn that live in this world.

After a month of planning and scheming with me, she arrived today with her friend Kara and dropped off four large boxes of clothes, gifts and treats for the girls. AND THEN GOT BACK ON A PLANE AND WENT HOME!

I can't tell you how much the act blessed me. That a women in Texas would be so moved by love to put a month worth of work into four large boxes and take in the risks of flying to Haiti. It reminded me that Haiti is not forgotten.

Linda, is it okay if I add you are 73?

I pray that when I am 73 I am moved by love, filled with compassion and have enough courage to fly to Haiti for orphan girls. This is a woman who has never been to Haiti and whose original plan was to fly here by herself. Thankfully an angel named Kara accompanied her and blessed us all as well.

When the spirit moves, there is no stopping it!

Linda and I formed a friendship over email. We would email every few days, share verses, share stories of God, pray for each other and share a journey. I hope our emails do not stop anytime soon. But I know I will see this woman again someday.

Estaline and Mikerline were sad to see them go.

Linda and Kara, 'thank you' doesn't say enough for what you did today. You will continually be in my prayers. I am sorry I fed you a crappy peanut butter sandwich. Next time I will cook you a feast! (of rice and beans) When I hugged you today at the airport I felt Christs love. His perfect love.

Safe travels! More pictures to come of the girls with their new threads... and probably more on this story.

  1. Kaitlyn,
I have never met you, or either Lindas, but I used to work with Kara. I would love to help with donations...if there are specifics as to what is needed, please let me know. Not sure how to ship yet...but I am sure I can figure it out. It is great to know people are out there helping others in need. I am proud of you and the work you are doing.

  2. Kaitlyn, Unlike the previous person commenting that they have never met you, I have known you for a very long time, and yet, I seem to marvel at the beauty, humor, caring, spirit-filled, and entertaining messages you communicate through your blog. Keep them coming! You are embodying God's sweet spirit just like your eighth grade teachers forsaw.

Anyways, your post about the Lindas reminded me of those commercials. I'm not trying to take away from the absolutely incredible story that you wrote about, but I am trying to remind you a bit about what goes on in my head from time to time. HAha. Miss you kait! Keep doin what your doin!
